In the Netherlands, your citizen service number (BSN) also serves as your tax identification number (TIN). Under the European DAC8 directive, we are legally required to record the country in which you are liable for tax, as well as your TIN. Without this number, we cannot link your transactions to you when reporting to the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst).
How we use your BSN:
- We use your BSN solely to comply with the DAC8 directive.
- Your BSN is stored securely and in an encrypted format.
- We only share it with the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration, and only when legally required to do so.
You can find your BSN on your passport, identity card, or driver’s license. See also: "Where can I find my tax identification number (TIN)?" and "Is my information safe with BLOX?"
